Making the Arts Accessible to Everyone

Now, more than ever, numerous barriers prevent access to the arts. Whether it be the cost of admission or round-trip bus transportation, many of Georgia’s Title I schools struggle to provide experiential learning opportunities to their K-12 students. In line with our Mission, Vision, and commitment to I.D.E.A. (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity Access), ArtsBridge Foundation founded the Adopt-A-School program to help remove barriers and provide access to the arts.

Adopt-A-School began with an inaugural donation in 2015 from the law firm of Wilson, Brock & Irby, LLC. Grades 3 through 5 – 350 students and their teachers – were able to attend a one-hour performance at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. Per Larry M. Dingle, Esq., Counsel at Wilson, Brock & Irby, LLC, “We are so pleased to be able to bring the wonderful arts programs that ArtsBridge provides to the students of our Atlanta metropolitan area to Fickett Elementary. We hope that by kicking-off this important program we will inspire additional donors – both corporations and individuals – to join us in giving more deserving students access to ArtsBridge performances.”

“When the students returned to the school they were still excited about their field trip to Cobb Energy Centre and seeing Schoolhouse Rock Live! Additionally, they were able to connect what they are learning in school with the songs! I am very appreciative to Wilson, Brock, and Irby for creating the "bridge" with ArtsBridge Foundation and making this positive arts educational experience possible for every 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade student at Fickett."

- Cheryl Twyman, Principal of Fickett Elementary School, 2015 (first Adopt-A-School recipient)
