Curated with help from our 25-member Education Advisory Committee, the ArtsBridge annual Field Trip program allows students to have first-hand educational experiences that directly tie to classroom curriculum and the Georgia Standards of Excellence (GSE).

Mufaro's Beautiful Daughters: An African Tale
presented by Synchronicity Theatre

Once upon a time there was a man with two very beautiful daughters. Written in the style of African Folktales, Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters is an expansive, musical retelling of the beloved book. Set under the clear Zimbabwean sky comes a tale of sibling rivalry and tests of character.
Award-winning artist and writer John Steptoe’s rich cultural imagery of Africa and gift for storytelling earned him the Coretta Scott King Award and the Boston Globe-Horn Book Award for Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters. Now for the first time with new music created by Synchronicity Theatre’s artistic team, Mufaro’s Beautiful Daughters is simply magic for the whole family.

Bringing a passion for all things art and community, Artrageous uses their multi-talented Live performance artists, world-class singers/recording artists, highly trained dancers, and audience motivators to provide an engaging, high-energy performance that leaves kids laughing, singing, dancing, amazed and inspired through the frenzy of movement and color.
The audience is immersed in the world of Artrageous and become participants in the show, not merely watchers. Audience members will be singing along, contributing to the light show, and some will even be invited on stage to be a part of some special creative numbers. There is something for everyone when you dare to be ARTrageous.

The Pout-Pout Fish

Turn the poutiest of frowns upside down in this musical featuring whimsical puppets and live performers in a sweeping oceanic adventure. When Mr. Fish sets out on a quest to find Miss Clam’s missing pearl, he discovers there is more to him than his permanently plastered pout.
This colorful adaptation of The New York Times bestseller is co-conceived, directed, and designed by the acclaimed puppeteers of AchesonWalsh Studios, whose work was featured in Broadway’s The King And I, On the Town, and Radio City’s New York Spectacular. Writing team includes New Victory LabWorks Residency recipients Christopher Anselmo, Jared Corak, Matt Acheson, and Fergus Walsh.

How to Survive Middle School

Comedian Robert Post barely survived Middle School. Struggling because of various learning disabilities, he found that making people laugh saved him. In this brand new multimedia performance, kids talk to kids in a compelling, funny and educational show. Dealing with real issues affecting students today including social media, testing, bullying and peer pressure, these video testimonials by kids and their advocates (along with a generous dose of Post’s signature humor) is sure to resonate with school and public audiences alike.

Georgia Symphony Orchestra (GSO)

Come experience Camille Saint-Saëns’ whimsical composition “Carnival of the Animals” with the Georgia Symphony Orchestra. Young audience members can listen to the sounds of marching lions, pecking hens, bellowing elephants, graceful swans and other creatures in 14-short orchestral movements. This zoological fantasy combines humorous visuals with captivating music that not only reminds us of the animals it represents, but also creates perfect opportunities for introducing basic musical concepts such as forte and piano, high and low, staccato and legato, and instrument identification.

Behind-the-Scenes Tours
Explore the magic behind the scenes of the world-class, state-of-the-art Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre. Discover the lighting and sound booths, orchestra pit, fly system, loading dock, dressing rooms, Green Room, and more. Tours last approximately one hour, and school dates are contingent upon theatre and technical staff availability.
