Georgia High School Musical Talents Readying to Compete in New York
McKenzie Kurtz of Milton High School and Nick Eibler of West Forsyth High School, named best actress and actor, respectively, in the Georgia High School Musical Theater Awards (also known as the Shuler Hensley Awards) in April, are in New York preparing to compete in the seventh annual National High School Musical Theatre Awards.
The “Jimmy Awards,” as they are called, will take place Monday at Broadway’s Minskoff Theatre. The two metro talents are participating in a week-long theater intensive and will compete with performers from across the country for the Jimmy Awards as well as merit scholarships and professional opportunities.
ArtsBridge Foundation’s Natalie Barrow, director of the Georgia awards program held at Cobb Energy Performing Arts Centre, is accompanying Kurtz and Eibler. Track their New York adventures at facebook.com/ArtsBridgeGa.
